Welcome

This blog is devoted to all things quilted and handmade. I have a new found love affair with quilts. I LOVE the colors, fabrics, designs and love that is sewn into quilts. Along with this new addiction comes a world of wonderfully kind and creative women (with a couple men thrown in for variety...LOL!). Please enjoy your stay here. I hope it will fuel your own creativity...

Little projects

Finished up some little projects...all part of getting some UFOs done by spending a half an hour each day in my sewing area.  A quilted box to store some scrap material and a quirky little tote with a crocheted bottom.

DaGMT Day 18

Finished the quilt for my little granddaughter.  I quilted it in  off-center concentric circles.  I am very happy with the results.  A nice summer quilt for her.  I tried a new flame-retardant batting and I am liking the soft drappyness (is that a word?) of the end result.  Probably not as good as the wool batt I normally use, but for a small child I think this is perfect.  So fun to see some projects getting finished that have been hanging around for a while. :)

I finished a tote as part of my DaGMT.  It is a little bigger than I thought it would be, but a perfect size for carrying the projects I am working on when going to a friends.

Quilt top done...have to put it aside now until I get batting and backing.  Progress made thanks to DaGMT!  Now on to other quilts I have in the works...

DaGMT

I am so excited to join the Drop and Give Me Twenty program!  I think it will give me the motivation, inspiration, PUSH I need to get some quilting done and clean out my UFOs.  So here is my pledge....

I, Lorna Wainwright, am joining Quilting Hottie Haven's second annual DaGMT event, and pledge to quilt for at least 35 minutes every day of the month of February, 2013. In doing so I hope to finish some of my UFOs and give myself a break from the numbers crowding my brain brought on by tax season and I think Beth Helfter is brilliant for coming up with this concept and inspiring me to join. Thank you Beth!

Now it is in writing and out in the world...  My first project to finish, a quilt for my granddaughter that will be 2 this May.  Here is where it is at now...
